I used to love the movie Grease. I could watch it over and over and I used to love the fact they hook up in the end. As I got older I realized (well it was pointed out to me) that the ending is absolute crap. I still love the songs but really what kind of message does this movie send out to young girls.
"You have to change everything about yourself to be with the one you want"
Yes, that's absolutely right. Sandy went from being a wholesome, smart, good girl probably with a plan for life and wanting to do something great with it. Then she falls in love with "The bad boy" and in order to keep him, she changes everything she is to be with him. She becomes a cigarette smoking Slut bag. WTF??? Why would you be with someone if they didn't want to be with you for who you are? So your whole life you're gonna be someone you're not just to keep a man who frankly was an ass to begin with.
Ladies any man who doesn't even want to be seen with you in front of your friends is not really worth it. I guess Sandy was like a moped to him. "she's fun to ride but you don't want your friends to see you do it."
Ok yes you can say he changed for her in the end. But no he didn't... what he ended up doing was beating the shit out of another player to steal that sweater in the end. Because frankly there was no change to his personality in the end at all. HE was still the same low life loser he was in the begining of the movie. A nogoodnik (to quote mr. mushnik from Little Shop of Horrors)
Ugh, the whole thing just pisses me off. I really can't enjoy the movie like I used to.
What a crappy moral to a movie. :(
